Last weekend Steve and I made a quick trip to NYC. It was super last minute; although packing quickly is more stressful, it’s so much fun to do something spontaneous. I don’t know if you have noticed, but I am a planner… a little OCD or type A personality. It might have been last minute, but it was a wonderful trip before I go into the busy holiday season.

Two things that I love to do when in the city for the weekend are eat a bagel with lox and have Sunday brunch. New York has the best bagels- period! If you’ve been to New York you know what I mean. It might be a little too much to say they are life changing, but they come close. It was a relaxing way to start the day- overlooking the city while having breakfast!

Sunday brunch is a ritual in NYC. I love brunch because breakfast is my favorite meal, but I am not a morning person so brunch is the perfect solution for me. There are tons of places that serve brunch. If you walk around on Sunday that is mostly what you will find. The last time we came to the city we didn’t plan. We knew we wanted to go to The Smith, a few blocks from where we were staying, because it has a great brunch. Unfortunately it was over an hour wait! This time we made reservations through Open Table and it was perfect!

When I’m in NYC my third favorite thing to do is shopping. Ok, really shopping is always #1 on my list, but I had to restrain myself this trip. Shopping just wasn’t on the agenda. It was a great relaxing trip and we spent a lot of time wandering around and exploring… which we both love to do!

Do you have anything that you HAVE to do when visiting NYC?
